A new AC, furnace or heat pump, when it's time

We replace heating and cooling systems once a repair no longer makes sense.

Open 7 days, 7am to 8pm.

Most systems give some warning before the end. Repairs come closer together, and the house takes longer to cool each summer. Seen early, those signs let the decision wait for a mild month.

When a system is wearing out

  • The same part has failed more than once in two seasons
  • A repair price that is a big part of what a new system would cost
  • Parts for your model are getting hard to find
  • Rooms that never cool or heat evenly, however the vents are set
  • A furnace and an AC both getting old at the same time

Never decided at the door

If a repair will give you good years, we say so and price the repair. If replacing it makes more sense for your money, we tell you why.

Nothing is sold on a plan visit, so a replacement is never decided at the door. The price comes by email, and you decide when it suits you.

On the plan, you hear a year or two ahead when yours is near the end.

Before we price it

Your technician looks at the house as well as the old equipment: the size of the rooms and how much sun they get, the attic or crawlspace, the ducts and the electrical panel. The new system is sized for the house. The label on the old unit is no guide, since that unit may never have suited the house.

The quote names the equipment and says what happens to the ducts.

The day it goes in

The permit is ours to pull, and it comes before the installation does. Its fee is between you and the city, and our quote leaves it out.

The new system is run through cooling and heating with you there before we leave. Its first tune-up can be the next spring or fall visit on the plan.

What goes into a new system's price

  • The kind of system: central air with a furnace, a heat pump, or mini-splits
  • The size the house needs, and the efficiency you choose
  • Whether the ducts can be reused, need repair or have to be replaced
  • Where the equipment goes: attic, closet, garage, side yard or roof
  • Work at the electrical panel, if the new system needs a larger circuit

Questions about new systems

Should I repair it or replace it?

Look at the system's age and how it has run until now. On a system fifteen years old that has run well, a first failed capacitor is usually worth repairing. One that needs a compressor after several repairs often is not.

Can you replace the AC and keep the furnace?

Sometimes. The new outdoor unit must suit the coil above the furnace, and an old furnace blower may not suit a new AC. If the furnace is close to the end as well, the quote can cover both.

Who needs to be there on installation day?

At the start, to walk through it with your technician, and at the end, when we run the system with you. In between, someone needs to be able to let us in.

Is a heat pump an option instead of a furnace?

In most Los Angeles houses, yes, and it takes over from the AC as well. It is set out on mini-splits and heat pumps.

Your first visit is the next one on this calendar.

AC Experts LA books both visits a year for you. If something breaks before then, call by noon for a same-day repair.
