Air conditioner repair in Los Angeles, for members and everyone else
Cooling that falls behind on the hottest afternoons, or rooms that stay warm long after sunset.
Same day when you call by noon. Open 7 days, 7am to 8pm.

An air conditioner that ran fine in May can quit in the first long hot week, when it is asked to run all afternoon. A part that was already weak often goes first. We repair central air and heat pumps, mini-splits included, in houses all over the county.
When to call us about your AC
- Air from the vents is warm, or barely cooler than the room
- The outdoor unit hums, but the fan on top stays still
- It shuts off after a few minutes, then starts again
- Water under the indoor unit, or a stain on a ceiling below the attic
- A squeal or a buzz you have not heard before
- Nothing happens when the thermostat asks for cooling
The parts that usually give out
Capacitor
It gives the compressor and the outdoor fan the push they need to start. When it weakens, the outdoor unit hums and the fan sits still.
Drain line
Cooling draws water from the air, and this line takes it outside. Once the line clogs, the pan under the coil fills, and on many systems a float switch then turns the cooling off.
Refrigerant leak
Refrigerant is not used up as the system runs, so a system that is low has a leak, often at a joint or in a coil. Topping it up alone leaves the leak where it was.
Fan and blower motors
Worn bearings start as a squeal or a grinding sound. The motor then runs hot and cuts out, briefly at first, later for good.

From your call to the repair
Your technician finds the part that failed. Not a member yet? Member repair rules start the day you join.
If the system itself is near the end, we tell you so, with the reasons, and the repair price still comes first. A new system is a separate conversation, on a day that suits you. More on new systems.

What sets the price of an AC repair
- The part that failed, and whether it has to be ordered
- How hard the equipment is to reach, up on a roof or in a tight attic
- For a leak, the time spent tracing it, and whether the coil itself is leaking
- The make and age of the system, since some older parts are harder to get
Questions about AC repair
Is there anything I can try before you come?
The thermostat first. It should be set to Cool, and set below the temperature of the room. If it runs on batteries and the screen is blank or faint, new batteries may be all it needs.
Then the filter, behind the return grille or beside the indoor unit. A filter gone gray with dust can choke the airflow until the system barely cools. Put in a clean one and give the house an hour. If nothing changes, call us.
Is an older system still worth a repair?
Usually, if it has run well until now. A capacitor or a blocked drain on a twelve-year-old system is an ordinary repair.
Why is there water under the indoor unit?
Usually the drain. The line from the pan is blocked, or the pan itself has cracked. Turn the cooling off so less water collects, and when you call, say where the unit is.
Do you repair heat pumps and mini-splits too?
Yes. A heat pump cools the same way a central air conditioner does, and most of the same parts wear out. Mini-splits have their own page: mini-splits and heat pumps.
