When the heat won't come on
First check that the thermostat is set to Heat and turned up above the room's temperature. A central furnace also has an on-off switch nearby, easy to mistake for a light switch and to flip off by accident. If the furnace still does nothing, leave it alone and get in touch.
At the house, your technician watches the burners try to light and works back to the faulty part, often an igniter or a sooty flame sensor. On a wall or floor furnace, the burner area is cleaned and the pilot checked first. You hear the price of the repair before a new part goes in.
